Lots of people hating on Korra these days. Have I mentioned I really like Korra? She is a real, human character with a unique personality.
Korra is a good person. It’s surprising to me that Zuko the asshole had countless fans during ATLA, yet Korra is constantly criticized and despised for some mild over-confidence and impulsiveness. For one, I think many people naturally have distaste for a headstrong female…. Korra has faced incessant difficulty in life and has always tried her best to bounce back. She gladly assumed the avatar title for most of her life (unlike Aang) and did a damn good job doing her best to carry out the responsibilities that came with it- even when others discouraged her from doing so (e.g. Tenzin). She is fair- she was even willing to go against her own father and uncle when she thought they were in the wrong. She is powerful, a quick learner, a talented bender, caring, intelligent, etc. Yes, she can often be stubborn or impulsive, but that makes her all the more human. Overall, she is a young adult still learning and growing; someone still finding her way in this world.
Also something I might add is that the creators of the series did a great job with animation. No crazy body proportions like you see in other anime (i.e. HUGE boobs, tiny waist, etc). She is reasonably strong and lean. As a person of color myself, I really take away much inspiration from her character.
Anyway, here are some screenshots I’ve compiled from the series that show Korra’s optimistic and confident beginning, some of the major struggles she’s endured facing various powerful villains, and the effect the aforementioned has had on her emotional well-being. Her recovery process will take some time, and that is understandable. I think she’s faced enemies of a caliber no avatar has ever faced before, not to mention one after another with little recovery time.
I identify with Korra a lot and it is a pleasure to watch her story unfold. :)
Thanks for such an interesting character, creators of The Legend of Korra.
That’s great, where you from? :) They are facebook groups, would you be interested?

I must say I love having thick eyebrows. >:P Teehee.

I don’t find girls that work out this executivly attractive
Why reblog and comment on a picture of someone you don’t find attractive?
I could care less who finds me attractive or not, I don’t live my life to please people. Keep your rude comments to yourself.
By the way, this is my picture. That person actually couldn’t be more stupid
Beautiful body, woman!! This is going to be great motivation. :)

Great poetry. :S
I remember back in the Avatar days… the typical fanart we would get would be a charming, childish crayon drawing stuffed in an envelope. Nowadays on Korra, I take a skewed screenshot with my phone, post it, and shortly thereafter someone un-skews it, crops it, separates the character levels, clones the background, “Ken Burns” it with a multilevel slide, animates the characters blinking and talking, tints it, and makes a GIF out of it, that I then see on the same phone with which I took the original picture. Times they are a-changin’…
P.S. In case it is unclear, I’m not upset, I’m just amused and amazed.
EDIT: Wait, I got it! A more appropriate classification for this: not fan art, but a fan retake.
Fuckin awesome. Also, I think this new girl seems really KEWL. She for Bolin? ;) YAY.

Kind of a dark day. Not as sad as I look, though. xD

Always LOVED Camilla Belle’s eyebrows. Thick eyebrows ftw.
Btw, she gawgeous.

I hate things like this. While I can appreciate that they’re good points for people who’re just getting started, a lot of them are redundant.
*Eat 5-6 small meals a day? False. It does not matter how you split up your meals, as long as the caloric/macronutrient outcome is the same.
*Eat every 2-3 hours? False. Intermittent Fasting. That is all.
*Combine lean protein and complex carbs at every meal? Again, not necessarily true. Think Primal/Paleo. I get that complex carbs can mean vegetables, but it can also mean breads, grains and other things which you really don’t need to have.
*Never miss a meal, especially breakfast? No, it doesn’t matter if you skip breakfast as long as your caloric intake is adequate at the end of that day. This whole breakfast is the most important meal of the day myth is false and really needs to be refuted. Again, I understand that this probably intends for you not to skip meals in order to glean the adequate number of calories, but stating things like this is misleading.
*Avoid all saturated and trans fats? Are you kidding me? A lot of natural, healthy fats are saturated. While I agree about trans, saturated fats that come from natural sources, e.g coconut oil are amazing for you in moderate quantities. There is no need to section off food like this.
*Stick to proper portion sizes - give up the super sizing? This is untrue as well. Your meals don’t have to be small. They can be any bloody size that you want them to be. Again, all that matters is the amount of calories that you intake. What I hate about things like this is that they attempt to define health in a kind of manifesto. There are many approaches to health, and you can’t say that some are right and some are wrong. We get told that wholegrain bread is amazing for you, but then there’s all those Paleo people out there who don’t touch grains at all and are in amazing shape. We get told that fat is bad for you, but look at people who eat Primally, and eat a ton of fat, and they too, can be incredibly healthy.
At the end of the day, I personally believe that Clean Eating has only one definition, which is eating as natural and as unprocessed as is possible. For you. Everybody’s idea of clean is going to be different, and that’s okay, but ignoring lifestyles such as IF, Primal, Paleo etc can get very frustrating when large portions of the health/fitness community look to these seemingly abnormal approaches to wellbeing and deem them harmful.
Do your own research. Find your own healthy. There is no one way, or one approach to health.Sanika, I couldn’t have put it better myself. After doing my own research into things like Intermittent Fasting, Primal Blueprint and the recent studies being published, I have realised that things like the above are just not applicable to everyone. While the basis of this information is good, this is not 100% truth & people should know this.
